The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Ending

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . These are scenes from the ending to The Oubliette.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Broken Dreams, Lost Soul Glade

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with generally good horror-setting style environments and good use of eerie and startling sound effects. We also had Martigen's Monster Mod installed, and as a result, some of the creatures seen in these screenshots will not be in the mod itself. After some hard fights against dangerous pumpkin-headed adversaries in a gory subterranean complex, a door magically takes you outside to woods and a fortress. The default weather was light fog, hard rain, and random strokes of deadly lightning, all of which severely affected game speed and performance. Here also are some interesting environments, such as a rotating tunnel.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Solitary

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . "Solitary" is one of the smallest rooms in the mod. It contains just a few goblin prisoners, implausibly alive after all this time.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Lost Ayleid Chambers

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . The Lost Ayleid Chambers is one of the smaller locations in The Oubliette. This very dark area has one of the best entrances -- It is pitch dark when you first enter, and there's a classic horror surprise for you when you "turn on the lights" using whatever light source or ability you may have.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Resting Room

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . "Resting Room" starts out deceptively peaceful and untainted by the horror everywhere else, which should be a clue that all is not what it seems. Ultimately, however, it does become one of the few places where one can safely rest.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Daedra Lords

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . The eighth door leading from the main chamber of The Oubliette leads to areas themed after some of the evil Daedric Lords/Princes . In addition to being anywhere from harrowing to hard, the landmine -riddled Vaermina run in this area suffers from a bug where being hit too many times by the fire turrets can cause your character to freeze up, necessitating a reload of a saved game.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Restless Dreams

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with generally good horror-setting style environments and good use of eerie and startling sound effects. We also had Martigen's Monster Mod installed, and as a result, some of the creatures seen in these screenshots will not be in the mod itself. Restless Dreams has light fighting and is more focussed on obliquely telling a story that hints of a love triangle that ends in tragedy. There are some neat horror-ambiance effects here, such as reanimating skeletons only when the character's back is turned to them.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Tomb of Unrest

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . The "Tomb of Unrest" area has a few small rooms, all of which the player must pass through. Each room tries to emphasize various fearful situations. One of the most effective is landing in a cell with just one lockpick (if the player had any to begin with) and one chance only to successfully pick a difficult lock or be stuck "forever" in an abandoned jail (to the extent possible in a game where you can simply reload and try again)..

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Erehwon

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . The fifth door from the main chamber of The Oubliette leads to "Erehwon" (Nowhere). This irritating area is a small maze made difficult by not allowing mapping, trees that obscure vision, and some deadly traps that can require quick thinking.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Crossing Halls

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . The area called "Crossing Halls" feels sadly under-developed: At some point we have to pick up someone's life force in order to reveal an exit, but this sequence somehow lacks depth or emotional impact to make it much different from taking a key out of a cupboard.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Death's Domain

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . The horror in Death's Domain is not being able to find a way out. Others have tried and continue in death to futilely try as mindless zombies. We also meet Death and are offered a bargain, but its effects are sadly unclear.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Mess Hall, The Pit, The Wilds

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . The second door encountered in The Oubliette main chamber leads to the "Mess Hall". After a tricky descent down a narrow and messy "Pit", the player emerges briefly into a surprisingly boring swampy area, then back into the Oubliette.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Basilica of Shadows, Lost Catacomb of Karan'dagash

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . "The Basilica of Shadows" is the first of the impossible spaces accessed by doors in the Oubliette. The player will also pass through the "Lost Catacomb of Karan'dagash", but not get to find out anything about who this is or their significance to the Oubliette.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion mod - The Oubliette - Entrance / Main Chamber

The Oubliette is a mod for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with generally good horror-setting style environments and good use of eerie and startling sound effects. We also had Martigen's Monster Mod installed, and as a result, some of the creatures seen in these screenshots will not be in the mod itself. There is an in-depth review of The Oubliette here . The screenshots here are of the exterior (a tiny island) and the central chamber. Progress starts from the top and room by room, the player proceeds downward into the Oubliette through 13 horror or hard-fighting areas.
