Before the final battle with Black Garius, he tries to turn companions against the protagonist. Depending on the protagonist's positive influence on them, each will either stay loyal, side with Garius, or have a positive contribution. Neeshka, for example, can break the binding on her and stand against Black Garius; Bishop can be convinced to leave. The videos below shows some possible mix of reactions. Fantasy game art from Neverwinter Nights 2 . Crossroad Keep is of key significant throughout the campaign and plays many roles. In the early game, it is the secret lair of one of the main antagonists, Black Garius. After the Keep is raided and Black Garius's initial plan ruined, the Keep is awarded to the protagonist to be rebuilt and garrisoned for the coming war. After a lengthy period of management , war comes and is fought on its outskirts as well as at and in the Keep. Crossroad Keep reappears in the Storm of Zehir campaign with an incidental role as the player's merchant headquarters. The grounds are denser with buildings but the overall layout remains the same.

It features one of the most poignant cutscenes in the campaign as a long-time companion to the protagonist sacrifices herself here to save the strike force that penetrates the fortress. She is slain by Ammon Jerro who too late realizes that in doing so he has killed his own long-lost granddaughter.
