The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth II uses a number of movies, mostly pre-recorded and a mix of in-game scenes and static artwork. The main menu also has a looping scene using in-game assets.

The game includes a vast number of scenes from the Peter Jackson (director) Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy . Many of these are small, short clips that were played as a mini-introduction to a geographic region or a hero. Others were static scenes tinted in sepia and displayed when the game was loading a mission. We have compiled these and presented them on this page.

The game interface makes taking good shots without user interface clutter very tricky, and the limited zoom and camera rotation further gives disappointing results. Also, while the larger units are quite detailed, the smaller and generally more numerous units had fewer polygons and didn't look very good close-up (especially the faces, even for the heroes). We instead present a series of screenshots from the game that were made by the developers and displayed while various maps and missions were loaded.
