Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is a hidden object game based on the story and content of Lewis Carrol's classic novel of the name name.

Alice in Wonderland features the essential characters of the original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (the pseudonym of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson), but is more magical and more menacing. To a lesser degree, the key actions and locations of the original are also featured, such as shrinking down to pass through a too-small door, but the locations are very different from the story as we know it (and popularized by Disney).

Because the essential action is a hidden object game, and the protagonist no longer Alice, the characters in this somewhat short game come across as cameos rather than essential figures. The puzzles will probably play as either too-easy or too-hard, and sometimes just plain tedious (such as several connect-the-gears type puzzles which thankfully can be skipped), and the hidden object games surprisingly easy except for one or two objects that are near-impossible to find because their silhouettes are so lacking.

Overall the game is a cut above the screens-cluttered-with-garbage type early hidden object games, but could use voiceovers and a better soundtrack. There's a good story here, though perhaps not as well or suspensefully told as it deserved to be. The fantasy artwork however, is very different and very good for its genre and definitely deserves a look.

Fantasy game art from Titan Quest . An art book, The Art of Titan Quest , is also available. This post showcases the AllSkins mod (now included in the unofficial fan patch ). Normally, Titan Quest has only two hero models with no variation: Male and Female caucasian. The AllSkins mod is a free third-party mod that lets players choose from hundreds of fantasy "skins" for their character. Here are two basic Titan Quest models in their "underwear" (when a character is wearing no armour). Incidentally, it took two years before someone managed a game modification to remove the skirt . Here are two characters modified with the AllSkins mod (now included in the unofficial fan patch ). AllSkins Mod version 0.7

The Bard's Tale - Dun Ailinne Treasure Map

Fantasy art from The Bard's Tale fantasy role playing game. This cutscene features dialogue from the Houton blacksmith concerning his treasure map. Although the Bard being scammed is entirely in keeping with the overall tone of the game world, the treasure map was in fact a good one, as Dun Ailinne hides, among other things, the Golden Spyglass, which increases all future treasure finds by 10%.
