Oblivion adds a lot of ambient light to underground locations where the would reasonably not be any. While this is a great convenience for gameplay and to keep the action going, it is also rather unrealistic. There are various mods that remove these additional lights or dim existing ones. The slideshow on this page has Oblivion in normal lighting and screenshots at the end where the same location is shown with the Darker Dungeons and Nights Mod Pack.
