With the Shivering Isles expansion installed, a glowing portal ("A Strange Door") to the Shivering Isles appears on a small island in Niben Bay. Once through the portal, the player / protagonist first arrives in a small room and is briefed by Haskill, Chamberlain to the Mad God Sheogorath. Haskill unlocks the room and the player / protagonist is thereafter able to begin exploring the Shivering Isles in the southwest corner, a region called the Fringe.

The Bard's Tale - Dun Ailinne Treasure Map

Fantasy art from The Bard's Tale fantasy role playing game. This cutscene features dialogue from the Houton blacksmith concerning his treasure map. Although the Bard being scammed is entirely in keeping with the overall tone of the game world, the treasure map was in fact a good one, as Dun Ailinne hides, among other things, the Golden Spyglass, which increases all future treasure finds by 10%.
