Dungeon Siege II - Talon the Dragon

Fantasy game art from Dungeon Siege II.

Dragons are as mysterious as they are exotic, though some have a reputation for their fierceness or destructive abilities. Only the Dark Wizards proved successful in taming these beasts, which Valdis used to his advantage in the creation of his armies. Normally used to transport soldiers into battle, Valdis reserves only the most powerful of the dragons for direct attacks.
Rumors have spread that an especially vicious Dragon named Talon, one of the most powerful in Valdis' army, has been seen in the area of the Snowbrook Haven, laying waste to whole garrisons. With such thick hides, taking a dragon down by normal means is not an easy feat and their fiery breath makes quick work of most soldiers, cooking them in their armor.

Talon is the only boss the player fights with a minigame involving a ballista. In between, the Morden army catapults in the heavily armoured Durvlas until Talon is finally defeated. The party then continues on to clear SnowBrook Haven and collect the second piece of a critical artifact.

As if resurrected from death, the fierce anger and power that Dragons draw upon can give them extraordinary lasting ability. Talon appeared mortally wounded by the final ballista shot, but the pull of the Aegis allowed him to fight one final battle.

It is when the party has collected the artifact in the calm and peace of the SnowBrook reliquary and are continuing down a quiet corridor that Talon makes a second, sudden appearance. Like the one true dragon in the original Dungeon Siege, Talon is too big to animate about the screen and instead is made to stay put and breathe fire at the party.

Here are two basic Titan Quest models in their "underwear" (when a character is wearing no armour). Incidentally, it took two years before someone managed a game modification to remove the skirt . Here are two characters modified with the AllSkins mod (now included in the unofficial fan patch ). AllSkins Mod version 0.7

The Bard's Tale - Dun Ailinne Treasure Map

Fantasy art from The Bard's Tale fantasy role playing game. This cutscene features dialogue from the Houton blacksmith concerning his treasure map. Although the Bard being scammed is entirely in keeping with the overall tone of the game world, the treasure map was in fact a good one, as Dun Ailinne hides, among other things, the Golden Spyglass, which increases all future treasure finds by 10%.
